The Jensen Connection
October 2001
Dear Family!
It has been a fun conference weekend with John and Sarah Jane and
a few of her friends over! It is sure convenient to be able to watch
conference on TV in our own living room. We can get comfy on the
couch with our paper and pen and enjoy the talks just with family!
We also have kind of a tradition with Perry and Fran upstairs that
we have a potluck on Sunday of sandwiches and salads. Mmm-mmm!
School’s going pretty good. (I guess I should really call
it work, since it could be kind of confusing otherwise.J) I do get
pretty tired by the end of the day and the end of the week. It is
a lot easier than it was last year. I sure have a lot of opportunities
to earn extra money by doing projects and volunteering on committees-
I am on the technology committee, and I’m a Literacy Lead
Teacher for our school, and the PE coordinator for the Gold Medal
School Program. I am lucky that these extra things don’t take
up hardly any time more than what I am already doing!
Dave is now working at an internship for A.G. Edwards where he
is actually getting paid. School is going well too! He is vice-president
for the FMA (Financial Management Association) and is in charge
of scheduling speakers to come to the U of U. He just had the branch
manager of Salomon Smith Barney Come to speak at the U. He got a
lot of good career insights from talking to him. He is also studying
hard to take the GMAT in a couple weeks, which is a test he has
to take before he can apply to get his Masters. We are seriously
thinking about getting Dave his Masters now: if he waits he may
never do it, and if he gets the Masters degree (MBA) he will be
much more marketable in the future. If he does it at the U, he can
get it done in just 1 extra year; if he goes to another school like
BYU, they require 2 years work experience, and then the masters
program takes 2 years to complete! We’ll have to see what
works out.
We had another ultrasound, and Natalie is definitely a girl! Yeah!
Only 2 ½ more months! We sure have a lot of little baby dresses.
I’ve bought a couple, Sarah Jane and her friends bought a
bunch at the D.I. for our last baby shower, etc; somehow we’ve
just collected a lot! J
We are still deciding what to be for Halloween. I get to dress
up for school that day, and we also have a ward Halloween Party
to dress up for. Dave really wants to be a lion or a cow, but I
don’t think I could get the costume made in time! Maybe next
year!
Hope everyone is safe and happy. Make sure you look at the changes
Dave made on our family web site: www.geocities.com/johansonspage.
It is just one page now. Check it out!
Love, Dave and Rachel
